“Okay,
little man,” Barney says as he kneels down to adjust the eight-year-old’s light
sensor . “Before I let you go crazy, let
me tell you about Laser Tag Code.” The
blond-haired, dark-eyed little boy watches his father, his expression
absolutely serious, as he knees in front of him. “Rule one: always keep an eye on the
enemy. Rule two: NEVER abandon your team
under fire...”
“I
wouldn’t do that, daddy!” the little boy tells him. Barney smiles; the earnestness of the
statement and the expression remind him too much of Robin.
“Rule
Three,” he ruffles the boy’s hair before continuing, “always have your
teammate’s back.”
He
frowns as the censor strapped to his chest starts to beep. The two of them look up together, at the
dark-haired woman standing in front of them,
“Rule
four,” Robin tells the brown-haired girl standing beside her, “never take your
eyes off the game.”
